In October 2023, the EBA Hokkaido Fieldwork (17 October - 26 October 2023) took place in Hokkaido, co-hosted by Keio Museum Commons (KeMCo). In total there were fourteen participants from eleven universities and four teachers in charge. There was only one student from each university, except Keio University which sent four students. Universitas Hasanuddin sent a student from Informatics Engineering, Nurdita Fahira.

This fieldwork theme is about diversity and indigenous people of Japan.The first thing participants did in this workshop was learn the Evidence Based Approach methods using a small case, namely exploring Cocotoma Studio (Workspace in Tomakomai-shi).

In the actual fieldwork, participants collect evidence within five days by exploring several places. Participants explored National Ainu Museum (Upopoy) in Shiraoi town to gather information primarily about Japan's Indigenous people, the Ainu People. To observe and collect evidence about environmental and industrialization, participants carried out field work at the Idemitsu Kosan Refinery. Discuss and collaborate with other participants as a group to explore the history of Hokkaido through fieldwork at Hokkaido University and around Sapporo City.

All of these activities lead to one main goal, that is creating an exhibition-style presentation on the final day at  the Keio Museum Common in Tokyo using the evidences that has ben collected during the fieldwork.

Through this fieldwork, participants gain a lot of insight into the Evidence Based Approach method and the diversity of indigenous communities in a particular place as well as sustainable practice in industrialization.
